WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

The Kelowna Citizens Safety Association (KCSA) was created in 2023 to revitalize the culture of civic reform where balanced debates can take place regardless of the issue. We strive to ensure civic politicians and staff are accountable and transparent to the electorate they represent. The KCSA offers Citizens and community organizations the ability to participate in the future direction of our City and create a vibrant community where Citizens are truly participating in local governance.

Serving our Community

Your voice is competing against big business, special interest, provincial, federal and even international agendas. The association works on your behalf to keep local government on task, accountable, focused on local issues while maintaining your individual rights.

We are actively researching various chapters of the OCP, which exposes areas of concern and questions that the City of Kelowna need to explain and be more transparent with planned initiatives. We will be acting as a body to represent the people as the current local council in Kelowna, the province of BC and the government of Canada does not represent the voices of many.

We wish to understand issues intimately and work with our local elected representatives to be able to do this.

The current process of public meetings does not meet the needs to our voices being heard. We are aimed at improving public safety, including neighborhood programs, workshops, and community awareness campaigns that we feel would be worthy of support.

KEEP GOVERNMENT LOCAL

The form of government closest to the people is the most important. The further away decisions are from the voters, the less impact they should have on our lives. KCSA works to re-balance the scales in favor of local citizen lead governance. KCSA works to expose and counter harmful policy originating from special interests and distant bureaucracies while promoting common sense alternatives lead by local needs.

HOW WE DO IT?...

KEEP THEM ACCOUNTABLE

Many important decisions in regional and municipal politics happen behind closed doors. It's time for residents to have a seat at the table. The KCSA will always advocate for transparency and accountability while putting the association members first.

PROTECTING OUR RIGHTS

As we are faced with crises and emergencies, governments are reacting and changing legislation faster than ever. KCSA is the voice of reason and your local watchdog keeping government overreach in check. Local government often makes decisions that can curtail your individual rights as a property owner, citizen or business owner. KCSA will proactively fight to ensure the decision makers stay in their lane.

ADVOCATE FOR COMMON SENSE POLICIES

The current policy direction is taking us towards unattainable housing, energy poverty, reduced farming, and higher prices. The sacrifices needed meet to goals adopted by local government are out of touch with reality and must be reigned in. KCSA advocates for world class utilities and services from local government, clean renewable energy, clean air, clean water without cutting services or reliability in the name of climate action.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSPARENCY

Technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Many do not fully grasp the extent of what is currently achievable. KCSA is committed to promoting transparent and informative dialogues, regarding the technologies already in use and those that are being proposed. We will actively seek sensible regulations and safeguards to prevent the potential misuse of dual-use technologies, while ensuring the protection of your privacy.
