WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

The Kelowna Citizens Safety Association (KCSA) is a multi-issue, grassroots organization formed in 2023 to engage directly with municipal, provincial, and federal governments and to advocate on behalf of local residents. With active branches in West Kelowna and Lake Country, we work across a range of project areas including government accountability, legislative review, development, planning, and public safety. Our role is to be a clear, informed voice for communities and to help shape decisions that affect neighbourhoods, families, and long-term community well being.

KCSA supports local autonomy and believes decisions about growth, development, and community priorities should be driven by communities, not imposed through top down Provincial direction. Legislative changes such as Bill 44 have made it illegal for the public to speak against most development proposals at City Council's, significantly reducing meaningful public participation. KCSA works to restore balance by engaging elected officials, educating residents, and advocating for transparent, lawful decision-making that prioritizes safety, livability, and the creation of stronger, more vibrant communities.

WHO WE ARE?...

KEEP GOVERNMENT LOCAL

Local communities must be able to make decisions for themselves. Recent legislation, including Bill 44, has restricted public participation and imposed top-down housing targets that override local planning and citizen input. KCSA works to restore meaningful local decision-making so communities can shape growth and policies that truly serve local needs.

HOW WE DO IT?...

KEEP THEM ACCOUNTABLE

Current laws increasingly allow decisions to be made behind closed doors, weakening transparency and public trust. Elected officials have a duty to act with integrity and in the best interests of their communities. KCSA works to expose opaque processes, demand openness, and ensure decision makers remain accountable to the people they serve.

PROTECTING OUR RIGHTS

Rights and freedoms are being eroded through expanding legislation and enforcement practices. KCSA acts as a local watchdog, challenging government overreach and defending fundamental rights including property rights and freedom of expression. We actively oppose efforts by authorities to silence public dissent or restrict lawful civic participation.

ADVOCATE FOR COMMON SENSE POLICIES

Policy choices must be practical, affordable, and grounded in reality. KCSA questions the cost, effectiveness, and priorities behind policies such as net-zero mandates and large-scale spending initiatives. We advocate for responsible use of public funds, realistic alternatives, and policies that strengthen communities rather than burden them.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSPARENCY

Technology is being deployed faster than public understanding or oversight. KCSA calls for clear disclosure around surveillance systems, AI use, data collection, and emerging wireless technologies. Residents deserve to know what technologies are in use, what they are capable of, and where firm boundaries are set to protect privacy and civil liberties.
